We are looking for an ALT Writing Specialist with expertise in engineering, electrical work,
and mathematics to assist with various projects requiring alternative text (ALT) descriptions
for course materials. This contract role is ideal for a recent graduate, teacher, or teaching
assistant with a strong technical background and a passion for accessibility.
Job Overview:
GrackleDocs is seeking a Contractor – ALT Writing Specialist to support a project focused on
engineering and electrical course materials. The role involves writing detailed and accurate
alternative text descriptions for numerous course files, ensuring accessibility compliance and
clarity for all users. The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering, mathematics, or
electrical systems and be comfortable translating complex concepts into concise, readable
descriptions.
Responsibilities:
- Review course files and provide accurate, detailed ALT descriptions for figures,
diagrams, and equations. - Ensure ALT descriptions adhere to accessibility standards and best practices.
- Work efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality writing
standards. - Collaborate with the GrackleDocs team to refine formatting and standards.
- Complete required training (up to 20 hours) to align with GrackleDocs’ ALT writing
processes.
Qualifications:
- Background in engineering, electrical work, or mathematics (degree, coursework, or
professional experience preferred). - Strong technical writing and communication skills.

- Experience in creating ALT text or familiarity with accessibility guidelines is an asset.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise descriptions.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience as a teacher, teaching assistant, or technical writer is highly desirable.
Contract Details:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Ongoing, based on project needs
- Compensation: To be discussed during the screening process
- Weekly Hours: Part-time, as-needed basis
- Potential for Additional Work: Based on client demand, additional projects may follow.
